Josabeth Simisterra
Actor
Born and raised in NYC Queens, Josabeth Simisterra is a powerful young Ecuadorian actress with a lot of heart. Josabeth is very attracted to work that represents the culture of queerness and Latinidad. She studied at Brooklyn College where she played a strong, but vulnerable Imogene in Gina Femia’s The Virtuous Fall of the Girls From Our Lady of Sorrows. Out of her several roles at BC, her favorite was the powerful boxer and parent, Ash in Hansol Jung’s Wolf Play. Professionally, she participated in the staged reading of Lynn Rosen's new play The Ushers starring Polly Draper, Mary Bacon, and Cherrye Davis at The New Group directed by Kimberly Senior. She also notably performed at Lincoln Center’s “Clark Studio” as several characters in a reading of Ibsen's Peer Gynt.
It is her mission to share joyful stories of her people in an effort to humanize characters and to offer a unique perspective. Josabeth also writes and creates, making space for her own artistic voice. When she is not acting she is playing video games competitively
and painting to keep her grounded.
